The U.S. Green Building Council, a Washington, DC-based national nonprofit organization of 6,000 corporate and organizational members that is dedicated to promoting environmentally-responsible, profitable and healthy places to live and work is currently seeking an energetic and business savvy building industry professional to serve as a product managerwho will manage the implementation and ongoing refinement of the established, ground-breaking LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) for New Construction and Major Renovation (LEED-NC) Rating System for promoting the design and construction of environmentally sustainable and healthy buildings.

The LEED for New Construction Program Managerwill coordinate the planning and delivery of services including project certification, technical support, customer service, and training with a team of staff and contractors, and will serve as the primary liaison to the committees responsible for technical and policy decisions.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Lead, inspire, motivate and develop a talented team of professional staff to support the successful implementation of LEED-NC
  • Manage preparation of the LEED-NC business plan and strategy for maximum impact and market transformation in the new construction market
  • Manage preparation of the annual LEED-NC budget and program plans in collaboration with the LEED-NC committee and department staff
  • Become a recognized and acknowledged spokesperson for LEED-NC and USGBC
  • Manage procurement and oversight of LEED-NC contractors and vendors
  • Serve as the primary liaison to the LEED-NC Core Committee and manage communications with the Corresponding Committee
  • Manage grant solicitation, administration and reporting as needed
  • Coordinate development and delivery of resources, services and training to support the use of the LEED-NC Rating System
  • Collaborate with Marketing staff and committee members to promote the use of the LEED-NC Rating System
  • Prepare program and financial progress reports on LEED-NC as needed
  • Conduct LEED-NC information sessions and trainings as needed
  • Handle media inquiries and outreach to industry organizations on LEED-NC as needed
  • Other related tasks as assigned
Related Organizational Goals and Objectives:
  • Encourage and accelerate global adoption of green building practices through LEED standards, tools and performance criteria
  • Create a program for the USGBC consistent with the mission of LEED and the Council
  • Offer a comprehensive portfolio of programs including technical tools and services supporting LEED products to meet the diverse needs of the building industry
  • Earn widespread and routine endorsement by industry leaders and stakeholders
Qualifications/Skills:
  • 5-10 years program development and management experience including work plan and budget preparation
  • Relevant building industry (e.g. interior design, architecture, project management) and/or environmental management experience, PE/RA Preferred
  • Financial management, procurement, and grant administration experience
  • Effective written and interpersonal communications skills
  • Attention to detail, strong organization skills and team leadership experience
  • Bachelors degree in relevant technical or management discipline; Masters preferred
  • Commitment to mission of the USGBC
