The Building Service 32BJ Thomas Shortman Training, Scholarship and Safety Fund (Shortman Fund) provides training to eligible members of Local 32BJ in English as a Second Language, industry skills, and computer skills.
Position Overview:
The Thomas Shortman Training Fund is recruiting Instructors to join our Green Building Initiative to teach our Green Building Management Course. In this role, you will provide student-focused, competency-based, live classroom instruction to superintendents, resident managers, and handypersons.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver courses in accordance with instructor guide, student materials, and published course descriptions
- Adhere to course schedules
- Deliver client-specific versions of courses in onsite presentations
- Apply principles of adult learning in course presentations
- Develop and maintain a familiarity with the evolving green building landscape by keeping abreast of new developments in energy efficiency, water conservation, etc.
Qualifications:
The Thomas Shortman Training Fund seeks a qualified professional with knowledge of green building technologies, energy conservation, energy audits, multifamily heating and cooling systems, weatherization, and building science. The Fund will provide additional training to the right candidates.
Candidate must have an interest in energy-efficiency, residential property management, or related fields, and a willingness to learn. This position requires excellent communication and customer service skills. Recent instructional or presentation experience is a plus.
