Description

Green Coast Enterprises is hiring a Project Staffperson to support our expanding work with Green Building Consulting.

GCE develops real estate and performs a continuum of real estate services focused on urban areas in need of community renewal located in the Southeastern United States, with a special focus on coastal areas threatened by climate change. We are currently expanding our service offering in the area of energy efficiency, in conjunction with grant financing provided to the City of New Orleans.

Position Overview:

GCE provides project management and green building consulting services to a wide array of commercial and residential developers. Our clients build projects ranging from scattered-site single-family to multifamily and larger commercial buildings. As part of our services, we consult with our clients on how to meet the requirements of the LEED, Enterprise Green Communities, Builders Challenge, Energy Star for Homes, and National Green Building Standard (NAHB) systems.

We are looking for an individual who can deliver timely and accurate advice with respect to these certification systems, manage or perform energy modeling work, and deal creatively with the budgetary constraints that are an inevitable part of every construction project.

Responsibilities:

The Project Staffperson will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Meet with clients to determine their needs, capacity, and limitations
  • Prepare certification worksheets, lists of standards, product recommendations, and other pre-construction items
  • Track all submittals and construction documentation
  • Respond to requests for additional information or advice regarding certification requirements
  • Perform and/or manage building energy modelers/HERS raters
  • Review construction documents for compliance with certification requirements
  • Site visits to inspect properties under construction

The Project Staffperson will report to senior members of our project teams.

Qualifications:

Candidates must have completed a bachelor's degree at an accredited institution to be considered for the position. They must also currently reside in Greater New Orleans or be willing to relocate immediately.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited university, preferably in an engineering, scientific, design, or environmental field
  • LEED AP certification
  • Experience with LEED, Enterprise Green Communities, and/or other certification systems
  • RESNET Certification and/or energy modeling experience
  • Experience working in design, construction, green building consulting, or a related field
  • Advanced understanding of concepts of energy efficiency and building materials and methods used in construction
  • Strong communications skills and familiarity with mobile and web-based technology

We do not expect candidates to meet all of these criteria, but they are indicative of the caliber of individual we seek. While we do expect to provide some on-the-job training, the ideal candidate will be able to hit the ground running.

Compensation: The starting salary for this position will be $45,000, with 3 weeks paid vacation, and full health/vision/dental benefits.

Start Date will be ASAP.

To Apply:

Applicants should forward a resume and cover letter. Please do NOT call regarding this position. We will review all resumes carefully, but we will be unable to notify all applicants of their status.

Please put "Project Staff Application" in the subject line of your email.
