Our interdisciplinary team of architects, engineers, and analysts is dedicated to a sustainable future. Founded in 1994 and based in Seattle we have a solid track record of producing outstanding and award-winning work on green building capital projects, development programs, and professional training.

We have expanded our office, team, and service offerings and are currently hiring for all positions. We are seeking experienced professionals in the architectural, engineering, and allied fields who can apply their multi-disciplinary skills to green building consulting opportunities.

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced professional in the architectural engineering field that can apply his or her multi-disciplinary skills to green building consulting opportunities. This team player is an extremely well organized project manager, possessing the ability to coordinate consulting on multiple projects including master plans, capital facilities, and training programs. This position reports to senior management in our Seattle office.

What We Need
This primary focus of this position is to manage and deliver green consulting services to major clients of the firm. This requires the candidate to be technically proficient as well as a good manager, comfortable with frequent deadlines and transitions, and to effectively direct other staff members in a fast-paced environment.

The successful candidate shall demonstrate the ability to work with minimal supervision, coordinate projects on his or her own, and work well with diverse groups and interests. Project work entails evaluating the needs and boundaries of client situations, creating a work plan with project deliverables, and then leading the consulting team.

This position manages a practice portfolio spanning multiple projects. Duties include engaging other staff and outside resources to complete consulting efforts as well as pursuing new work through proposal generation.

Mentoring is a key responsibility of the position, contributing to the overall professional development of the firm. The Consultant oversees junior staff managing select business objectives and success factors.

What You Offer

  • A degree in architecture, engineering, or allied field.
  • LEED Accredited Professional
  • 8+ years professional experience with clear career progression in green building.
  • Excellent knowledge of high performance building design and construction parameters and LEED Rating Systems, with direct experience in three or more of the following areas:
    • Site:Landscape and site design, building and landscape integration, landscape materials - experience with master plans and GIS software a plus.
    • Water: Stormwater management and treatment systems, rain harvest systems, biological treatment systems, water balance modeling.
    • Energy: Building science, concept design for active and passive systems, envelope expertise, ventilation effectiveness, creating sequences of operation for hybrid systems, modeling skills a plus.
    • Materials:Specifications, recycled and non-toxic content, alternative building materials and manufacturing processes, code compliance.
    • IEQ: Space planning, daylighting, ergonomics, air quality, green materials, human ecology.
    • Economics: Financial measures, first costs, life-cycle costs and return on investment; and monitoring, verification and evaluation of building performance.
  • 4+ years project management experience in proposal generation, leading project teams, providing client service, and managing to budgets.
  • 4+ years producing conceptual and analytical basis of design, strong writing skills and technical publishing ability.
  • Ability to prepare and deliver oral presentations to individual clients and training seminars, clearly and effectively communicating complex ideas.
  • Expert user of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Acrobat, PageMaker.
  • A sense of humor and a knack for innovation, problem solving and negotiating positive results.

Salary Range: low-fifties to low-sixties, depending on experience
