Founded in 1993 by activist and philanthropist Diane Meyer Simon, Global Green USA (GGUSA) is the American Arm of Green Cross International (GCI), which was created by President Mikhail S. Gorbachev to foster a global value shift toward a sustainable and secure future by reconnecting humanity with the environment.

GGUSA is the only national environmental nonprofit headquartered in Southern California - we also have offices in New Orleans, Washington, D.C., and New York. We are one of 31 national GCI affiliates throughout the world.

GGUSA is working to address some of the greatest challenges facing humanity. In the United States, our work is primarily focused on stemming global climate change by creating green buildings and cities.

Position Overview:

GGUSA is seeking a Green Affordable Housing Assistant to support the Green Urbanism Program. This position is part-time (approximately 20 hours per week).

Responsibilities: 

  • Assistant will provide technical and administrative support for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) for Homes, LEED Neighborhood Development, and green school projects.   
  • Conduct research and analysis for program publications and proposal materials.  
  • Maintain project checklists throughout design and construction, verify energy modeling and solar output projection. 
  • Prepare project summary, qualifications and proposal materials.

 Qualifications: 

  • Experience with LEED, preferably LEED for Homes and LEED for Neighborhood Development. 
  • Able to work independently and take initiative. 
  • Strong organizational and logistic skills. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Excellent analytical ability. 
  • Experience with the following programs: Adobe Creative Suite (Indesign, Photoshop, Illustrator), Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint).

Compensation: $15/hr. Global Green will pay federally required taxes.
