Description
~ The National Marine Sanctuary Foundation was created to support and strengthen the national system of marine sanctuaries. NMSF works closely with the NOAA Office of National Marine Sanctuaries to connect the American public to the ocean and Great Lakes through these special places. ~
NMSF awards approximately $1 million annually in grants to other organizations who have developed projects complementary to NMSF's mission. This includes grants awarded from federal flow-through funding, as well as a competitive grant program, funded by the Ernest F. Hollings Ocean Awareness Trust Fund. As NMSF fulfills its role as a foundation, it's more interested in studying the impact of past grants that have been awarded, and how to increase the impact of grants awarded in the future.
