We partner with over 1.1 million farming families in the developing world and with over 450 businesses that market and sell Fair Trade Certified products in the US. In the last four years, Fair Trade coffee has become the fastest growing segment of the $18.5 billion coffee industry, and TransFair is currently in an exciting strategic phase of growth to continue to increase the sales of Fair Trade products in the mainstream market. Overview of Position:
Working with the Project Managers of Global Producer Services (GPS), the Manager of Global Producer Services, fellow Associate and interns, this position will assist in the fundraising and the coordination of capacity building and market linkage projects for Fair Trade producer organizations. In addition, this position supports activities which provide direct links between Fair Trade producer organizations and Fair Trade markets in the U.S. The mission of the GPS Department is to strengthen producer organizations in order for them to increase their benefits from Fair Trade, and to ensure efficient international markets for Fair Trade CertifiedTM products.
Specific duties include:
*Conduct needs assessments of producer groups in English-, Spanish- and French-speaking countries
*Develop proposals to international development agencies based on need and market opportunity
*Organize Fair Trade producer participation in capacity building and quality improvement projects
*Coordinate trainings and seminars for Fair Trade producers at origin and the US *Support Fair Trade producers with market access activities
*Assist in the management of the supply and demand of Fair Trade products worldwide to increase the efficiency of, and gains from, Fair Trade
*Work with other departments and producer groups in project reporting and evaluation, and the creation of Fair Trade impact reports, co-op profiles and other materials about producers
*Communicate with international funders and maintain external relationships
QUALIFICATIONS:
2+ years of professional work experience, preferably in fundraising/development or international development. Relevant educational background in those areas is a plus. Experience in one of our products is preferred. Fluency in English and French required, proficiency in Spanish is a must. Exceptional written and oral communication skills in all three languages required. Detail-oriented and multi-tasking capabilities are essential. Logistics and event coordination experience are ideal. Must be proficient using the applications of Microsoft Office.
