Eastern Research Group, Inc. (ERG) is a nationally recognized environmental consulting firm. With offices across the country, we serve a spectrum of clients, including federal agencies, state and local governments, and non-governmental organizations.

Position Overview:

ERG's Arlington, VA, office is seeking a qualified and motivated individual to support federal greenhouse gas (GHG) management initiatives including emissions quantification, inventory compilation, and emissions reduction strategies, as well as day-to-day project implementation efforts.

Responsibilities:

  • Performing extensive quantitative and qualitative data collection, quality assurance, and analysis
  • Developing GHG emission inventories
  • Reviewing literature on GHG accounting methodologies
  • Writing papers, presentations, and techincal reports
  • Staying abreast of new developments in federal GHG emissions accounting guidance and policy
  • Updating emission factors
  • Researching and monitoring renewable energy and offset market activities

Qualifications:

Candidates should have: a bachelor's degree in the physical sciences, math, mechanical, engineering, or related field of quantitative study with 1-3 years of experience; familiarity with GHG emission inventories and/or emissions accounting principles; strong quantitative skills; an excellent eye for detail; and superb writing and organizational skills.

Candidates should be fluent in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint, and should have a desire to contribute to and excel within a fast-paced and growing team of young professionals. Candidates should also be capable of working independently without extensive oversight. Candidates should demonstrate self-initiative and ability to multitask. Familiarity with current climate change legislation, offset and green power markets, and database development/management a plus.

Excellent written and oral communication skills are a must.
