Description
We are a small manufacturer and retailer of handmade natural fiber mattresses, pillows, fabric covers, etc. We also retail solid domestic hardwood furniture for the entire home and home accessories. Our roots are in artisanship and pride of product, within the scope of minimizing harm to the planet and its inhabitants. Honesty, fairness, quality, and environmental stewardship are our hallmarks.
* Oversee, supervise, and coordinate employees and departments: manufacturing (3 areas), retail sales (2 physical store locations, plus web and catalog), wholesale sales, shipping, warehouse, creative director, owner.
* Hire and train employees.
*Manage budget, maintain database. Implement ongoing efforts to improve/make more efficient all operations.This includes quality control of handcrafted goods, working with a team on new product development, maintaining standards of production. Plan and complete strategies for growth. This is a small company, so all noted tasks are very hands-on (definitely not an office job, but yes, includes office work.)
Skills:
Ideal is an individual with a HANDS-ON background in manufacturing/crafting/sewing/textiles. (If you have never been involved with the crafting of things - stitching, sewing, assembling - you are probably the wrong person for this job.) Strong organization, communication, personnel management skills. Comfortable and confident with computer. Experience with managing a staff, particularly in a manufacturing environment. Key concept is coordination - you are the hub that ties all else together.
Preferred is an individual interested in building a business - marketing, budgeting, business sector analysis, creative growth (new products, new customers, new perspectives.)
