Equal Exchange is seeking a Fundraising Program Coordinator responsible for helping develop Equal Exchange's Fundraising Program. As Fundraising Program Coordinator, you will use your entrepreneurial and organizational skills to help develop and manage a new marketing/sales channel for Equal Exchange­fundraising programs for school children and community groups.

Through the sale of Equal Exchange's coffee, tea and chocolate products, schools and community groups will be able to raise funds for their own group while supporting small-scale farmers and their communities. This person will support the Organizing Director in this new program: by helping to achieve specific revenue and margin goals, creating support services, as well as developing new marketing and promotion programs.

Equal Exchange's Organizing Department uses a team approach to engage Equal Exchange consumers through grassroots, multi-sensory, organizing tools. We provide individuals and consumer organizations with user-friendly tools for them to learn, teach and act in order to strengthen Equal Exchange's brand community. This position will organize and initiate our communication (the Equal Exchange look, message, placement and taste) to tens of thousands of supporters in a year. In 2005 the Organizing office spoke with over 50,000 people.

Responsibilities: 

Coordinate and Develop the Equal Exchange Fundraising Program. 

Work with Organizing Director & product managers to establish revenue and margin goals of fundraising program. The strategy will include: product line development, sales & customer service, maximization of EE's Fundraising Program knowledge and market opportunities, work with Organizing Director on overall strategy, message, partnerships, packaging, promotions & services. Product Development and Sales Market research; Profitability analysis & sales projections.

Services and Promotional Strategies:

Collaborate with Organizing Director, Product Managers and Marketing Department on message & design goals to strengthen identity for Equal Exchange Fundraising Program; Work with Marketing Department on packaging, promotional materials, web services, events and other communication; and Implement promotions in consultation with Designer & product managers

Partnerships:

Collaborate with Organizing Director in developing & fostering relationships with community organizations & other partnerships; Work with Equal Exchange customer service & Distribution for efficient support systems;

Organizational Participation:

Active participation in the Equal Exchange co-operative: attendance at staff meetings, completion of the worker-owner curriculum, participation on organizational committees where possible.

Qualifications: 

* An interest in the mission of Equal Exchange
* Previous experience in sales and marketing planning is desirable but not mandatory
* Previous experience in program development is desirable but not mandatory
* A quick learner; enjoy working as part of a small team
* Entrepreneurial and able to work effectively in an area without established precedents, structures or procedures
* Detail oriented
* An ability to work independently
* Comfortable using programs to manage and measure sales
* A desire to learn and to contribute to the success of the organization
* Willingness to do other tasks as needed
* Problem-solver
* Ability to learn from others
* Time management skills
* Willingness to travel
