Position Overview:
Develops formulations and processes for products; provides the formulation and pre-formulation support for all new product development projects
Responsibilities:

- Works with customers to develop and formulate existing and/or new products.
- Is constantly working with the sales and marketing department to assist new customers in developing specific products and formulas.
- Proposes and evaluates formulation strategies for both research and development compounds.
- Records, compiles, and analyzes research data relevant to product development and evaluation procedures.
- Identifies and prepares research quality dosage formulations for oral administration.
- Conducts physicochemical characterization of new compounds including solubility and stability.
- Inputs customers new and/or revised products into a formula form and prepares it for quotation process.
- Reviews all product specifications and is responsible for final product formulations and bottling specifications.
- Prepares regulatory documents as appropriate. Keeps and updates all records in regards to formulas and formula costs.
- Evaluates data received from contract research organizations.
- Works with purchasing to locate and approve new raw materials and suppliers.
- Helps trouble shoot manufacturing problems related to formulation and out of spec tablets and capsules. Maintains and develops scientific awareness and identifies actual and potential opportunities for the company.
- Develops professional skills to enhance job expertise and awareness of company policies for GMP, SOP, and safety regulations.
- Creates and maintains quality in an ever-changing and developing environment.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in related field or equivalent required; master's degree preferred.
- 4 to 6 years related experience or equivalent. Experience in nutritional industry preferred.

- Above Average Math Skills: required for weight conversions, percent activities, heavy metals calculations, label reviews, understanding a COA/spec sheet/, molecular weights, etc. etc.
- Proficient on Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Filemaker: A person comfortable re-saving/renaming/moving/transferring files and that understands how cells/formulas are linked on a sheet and can review and fix a spreadsheet independently. Computer savvy in general and will be able to handle not only EXCEL, but who is quick to understand an internal MRP (material resource planning system, ours is a DBA system as well
