Seedco Financial is a national nonprofit community development financial institution. Working with local partners, it provides financial resources to develop or rejuvenate low-income communities. This financial assistance usually takes the form of below market rate loans to community organizations and businesses in economically distressed communities.
Seedco Financial is a spin off of Seedco, a national community development intermediary that creates opportunities for low-wage workers and their families. Seedco achieves its purposes by working with community partners to develop and operate programs that help people join the workforce, secure economic self-sufficiency, and promote asset building for residents of economically distressed communities. Seedco Financial supplies financial and technical assistance in ways that serve to complement Seedco's programs.
Position Overview:
Seedco Financial is seeking staff for its new office in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The Financial Services Officer will work with the loan fund staff on managing a $75 million loan fund portfolio.
Responsibilities:
Specific duties will include performing due diligence and underwriting; working with program staff on identifying potential loans to nonprofits and small businesses; participating in presenting loan recommendations to credit committees including Seedco's board of directors and maintaining contact with borrowers and trouble shooting problem loans.
S/he will also be required to provide financial management technical assistance as part of a team through one of Seedco's capacity building programs. This may include working with nonprofit or small business clients on cash management, budgeting, financial reporting and other issues.
Qualifications:
- 2+ years lending experience;
- MBA or other relevant graduate degree;
- Strong ability to interpret financial statements;
- Good communication skills and ability to maintain multiple client relationships;
- Experience working with the nonprofit community, preferred;
- Excellent written and oral presentation skills;
- Strong computer skills. Applicant must be very comfortable with Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and experience with portfolio software, e.g. Nortridge, is a plus;
- Demonstrated commitment to the nonprofit sector.
