We are seeking a Financial Officer who can manage the financial strategy and risks of Slipstream, helping us achieve clean energy and equity solutions.

We welcome candidates from diverse backgrounds. Our physical offices are in Madison, WI, and Chicago, IL, and although we have remote staff in many other states, we prefer a candidate with a reasonable commuting distance to our Madison, WI office. This is a hybrid role and our ideal candidate will spend at least one day a week in the Madison, WI office.
What you’ll do:
You will be responsible for providing leadership and lending your technical expertise as an accounting professional. You’ll perform or oversee the activities of the accounts receivable/accounts payable/contract billing and general ledger functions/systems including but not limited to the following:
- Manage Accounting Department staff
- Work with accounts receivable, accounts payable, cash flow, line of credit and oversee all company funds
- Ensure that accounting tools, processes, and software are creating efficiency, process improvement, and ease of use
- Prepare various financial reports for multiple audiences, including internal and external stakeholders
- Prepare and review budgets as well as track operational metrics
- Facilitate company audits
- Manage and coordinate compliance requirements
- Keep abreast of current accounting trends, practices, and developments, and make recommendations for implementation as appropriate
- Work closely with the CEO in developing and evaluating various organizational initiatives and recommend programmatic changes, specifically to ensure sound financial decision-making
- Provide support relating to forecasting, budgeting, and financial management goals
What you’ll need:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting, or equivalent related experience
- Certified Public Accountant designation required
- Minimum of ten (10) years of accounting management experience, three of which are in a leadership role
- Minimum of two (2) years supporting an accounting team and collaborating closely with an executive team
- In-depth knowledge of risk management methods and the ability to create forecasting models
- Expertise in business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership technique, problem-solving, and coordination of people and resources
- Demonstrated skill in verbal and written communication, with the ability to be persuasive, and exhibit effective public speaking skills
- Experience sourcing and implementing accounting software
- Single Audit experience highly desirable
- Demonstrated proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite
