Description
The Agriculture and Land‑Based Training Association (ALBA) is a nonprofit based in California’s Salinas Valley that empowers aspiring and limited‑resource farmers—primarily low‑income and immigrant farmworkers—by providing bilingual education, technical support, and access to a 100‑acre certified organic training farm.
Through its intensive PEPA farmer education course and Organic Farm Incubator program, ALBA equips participants with hands‑on training in organic production, business management, and sustainable farming practices, while offering subsidized land, equipment, and mentorship to help them launch and grow their own organic farm businesses. Since 2001, ALBA has helped establish more than 250 independent farms, the majority Latino‑owned, while fostering environmental stewardship, economic opportunity, and stronger local food systems.
