MicroEnergy Credits is a social enterprise that enables greater access to clean energy for poor people around the world by tapping the carbon market to expand access to capital. By helping microfinance institutions (MFIs) provide microloans for clean energy technologies, those in the greatest need can purchase solar lighting for their home or business, and smoke-free stoves for their kitchens. With microfinance, clean energy technologies become more affordable than wood or fossil fuels while offering a cleaner, safer and more efficient energy source. More than 80,000 households have already adopted clean energy as a result of MEC's financing program in Asia, Africa and Latin America.
Position Overview:
- MicroEnergy Credits offers a rare opportunity to work in a lean, early stage company in the social enterprise space
- As the Finance Associate you will report to the CFO, supporting a range of functions that allow the organization to expand and raise capital
- You will be responsible for managing projects including business plan presentations, responding to due diligence requests, and financial modeling
- You will intersect with key external stakeholders, including current and potential investors
Reports to: CEO
Responsibilities:
- Manage the financial model
- Develop financial reports for investors
- Respond to due diligence requests and conduct sensitivity analyses
- Manage financial reporting requirements
- Assist in the creation of investor and potential investor collateral
- Assist in ad-hoc finance requests from staff and investors
- Know and understand the social investment sector and carbon markets
Qualifications:
- Experience with financial modeling, conducting sensitivity analyses, investor relations
- Bachelor's degree required. MBA strongly preferred, and 1-3 years banking or consulting experience. A strong record of consulting or banking experience may be considered in lieu of an advanced degree
- Familiarity with investment arena, social investment arena preferred.
- Superior written and oral communication skills and attention to detail, combined with highly organized and professional work style
- A professional and resourceful style with the ability to work independently and as a team player, to take initiative, manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Comfortable working in a small, rapidly-growing organization

Compensation: As a rapidly growing startup, MEC is committed to providing a reasonable cash compensation, commensurate with experience, complemented by generous equity and performance bonus.
