Position Overview:

Reports to Engineering Manager or the Manager Global Customer Support. Has responsibility for all aspects of the Field Engineering function.  Establishes and implements policies and procedures to meet quality standards and expectations of the customer in a timely manner.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the development, implementation and maintenance of departmental and individual goals and performance measures. Aligns individual and departmental goals to support overall organization goals. Responsible for coordinating work load and scheduling of Field Engineers.
  • Responsible for performance management and development of direct reports. Identify training needs related to personal development and technical skills.
  • Participate in interviewing and selection of new members. Responsible for facilitating inter-departmental conflicts for optimum outcome.
  • Checking and approving documentation required, e.g. service reports, expenses, time sheets, invoices.
  • Providing technical assistance if needed.
  • Arranging and shipping of parts if necessary for Field Engineers.

Other Functions:

  • Responsible for departmental financials and budgeting.
  • Interact with other departments as required.
  • Motivate individuals and work groups through rewards and recognition.
  • Receiving customers orders and enter in Wise.
  • Responsible for Field Service stocks.
  • In some locations may be responsible for Helpdesk and Training.

Qualifications:

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Solid communication skills, both written and verbal, across functional areas.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage projects that have scope and impact the department.
  • Ability to effectively organize and prioritize day-to-day activities and issues within functional area.
  • Ability to assess situations and solve complex issues for department and customers.
  • Ability to delegate as necessary to meet objectives.
  • Ability to create and deliver presentations in a comprehensive and professional manner to department and peers.
  • Solid technical understanding through formal study related to business segment.
  • Solid knowledge of business computer systems and PC tools.
  • Solid negotiation skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively across organization.
  • Solid WISE knowledge or similar business system.
  • Ability to travel up to 50%

Education/Formal Training:

  • BS in Engineering, or equivalent for international locations.
  • Green Belt training preferred.

Experience:

  • 5+ years demonstrated practical experience as Field Engineer or equivalent position.
  • 2+ Years demonstrated experience in supervisor or lead role within the Field Engineering environment.
