Position Overview:
We are seeking a motivated and accomplished self-starter and effective team player to provide site and subsurface characterization for environmental site assessments, foundation design studies, and regulatory compliance projects. This is a full-time position in our Boston office.
Responsibilities:
- Perform soil and bedrock sampling and identification/characterization
- Monitor subsurface explorations
- Perform groundwater sampling
- Perform various field tests including pump, slug, and falling head
- Perform instrument installation and measurement
- Generate subsurface profiles and geologic interpretation
- Perform preliminary site visits to estimate equipment accessibility, locate proposed borings and/or test pits, and conduct geologic mapping
- Assist in project work including data reduction, proposals, and reports
- Support construction monitoring staff regarding interpretation of site geology during excavation and foundation installation
- Use of various geotechnical and environmental equipment including PIDs, water level meter, seismograph, inclinometer, and other related equipment
- Participate in team meetings
- Produce daily field reports
Qualifications:
- 0 - 3 years of Geology related work experience including water sampling, drilling, or soil sampling
- BS in civil engineering or related field
- OSHA 40 hour certification
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Basic Excel and Word capabilities
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to travel to job sites and on temporary assignments
- Ability to work some nights or weekends if necessary
- Nuclear density gage training preferred
