Field Crew Members, Organic Farming

~ Silverwood Organic Farm is situated on 100 acres of privately-owned and leased land in Sherborn, MA. We cultivate 15 acres of organically certified vegetables, and herbs for distribution. We are committed to providing high-quality, diverse, and fresh produce to our community. ~ 

Position Overview

For the 2015 season, we are hiring Field Crew to help with all aspects of production and distribution. S/he is supervised by and works closely with the managers and assistant grower. Applications will be accepted throughout the growing season. 

• Dates: April 29 to November 2
• Hours: Every day of the week up to 40 hours per week. Full- and part-time positions available

Responsibilities 

The Field Crew is involved in all aspects of production and distribution, including: 

• Greenhouse work;
• Infrastructure and irrigation management;
• Field prep;
• Planting and weeding;
• Insect and disease control;
• Harvesting; and
• Washing and packing. 

Qualifications 

• One to three seasons of farming experience is preferred. 
• Additionally, applicants should have a serious interest in sustainable agriculture and certified organic standards.
• The ability to bring enthusiasm, initiative, and good humor to the intense working conditions of the season is essential.
• Also, applicants must be willing to work a flexible schedule, able to lift 50 lbs, and have a valid driver's license. 

Compensation: $8-10/hour commensurate with experience, Workman's Comp., and produce from the farm.
