Vernadero Group Inc. provides environmental, natural resource, cultural resource and engineering support services in support of Army, Army Reserve, and Army National Guard program requirements throughout the United States. We offer our Army clients practical and effective solutions in support of real property and resource management needs.

Position Overview:

Vernadero's Phoenix office has an immediate opening for a full-time staff biologist/ecologist. General responsibilities include conducting field surveys and performing GPS data collection and analysis for projects located in Arizona and throughout the southwestern United States.

Field activity duties include providing technical knowledge, conducting field surveys, recording data with GPS unit according to survey standards. Position will participate in biology/ecology studies and reports following established scopes of work, budgets and schedules. Position will work in a team environment with other staff biologists/ecologists. Frequent travel is required.

Qualifications: 

  • B.S. degree in Biology, Ecology, Natural Resources, Environmental Studies, or related field;
  • A minimum of 2 years experience conducting flora and fauna surveys;
  • Extensive knowledge and experience using GPS units, Trimble GeoXH preferred;
  • Knowledge of Southwestern U.S. biological resources;
  • Threatened and endangered species survey experience;
  • Ability to perform intensive field surveys and work long hours in the field;
  • Candidate should be comfortable with working in remote locations and under potentially adverse conditions;
  • Position will require out of town travel for 50-75% of the time during survey season;
  • GPS data post processing and ArcGIS experience a plus;
  • Invasive species program experience a plus;
  • Outstanding writing, editing, and communication skills;
  • Excellent team participation skills;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs;
  • Off-road, 4x4 driving experience helpful;
  • Must have a valid drivers license and be a U.S. citizen.
