Position Overview
The Student Organic Farm Manager is responsible for managing the on-campus learning environment known as the CCCC Student Farm.
Responsibilites
- As manager this person will mentor, model and teach farming skills appropriate in a sustainable, organic diversified farm setting.
- The manager oversees all daily and seasonal farm tasks including maintenance of the facilities, equipment, on-farm livestock care and timely management of production spaces.
- As "the face" of the farm, the manager leads farm tours, coordinates with faculty, staff, community members and works daily with sustainable agriculture students.
Qualifications
Education:
- AS in Sustainable Agriculture and demonstrated competencies in the teaching discipline.
- BS in Crop Science, Soil Science, Agroecology, and/or related area is preffered.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Have organic farming experience at both mechanized/field production scale as well as hand/garden scale and experience with appropriate tools (tractor and tiller experience essential).
- Have a commitment to and enjoyment of working with students.
- Work well in a collaborative and team environment.
- Have a positive, enthusiastic, and supportive attitude.
- Have excellent communication skills.
- Have 4 or more years of organic farming experience including 2 years of farm management experience.
- Have building, maintenance, and general handy-person skills.
