Volunteer and Internship Opportunities are available at the SUSTAINABLE BUSINESS INSTITUTE (SBI).

SBI is looking for dedicated individuals to serve as leaders with the organization. If you would like to make a difference in the world around you by introducing the business world to sustainable business practices, contact the SBI today! 

Current Available Positions Include: 

NEWSLETTER/ BULLETIN COORDINATOR 

- Coordinate content for SBI Monthly Bulletin
- Research sustainability tips and ideas
- Post events and updates
- Organize subscriber list 

Requirements: Must be computer savvy, a fast learner, experienced in online research, and dedicated to SBI's mission. 

SUSTAINABILITY COORDINATOR 

- Responsible for researching and writing SBI's Sustainability Report for 2005/ 2006
- Research current environmentally friendly practices for offices, meetings, conferences, etc.
- Assist in implementation of best practices throughout the organization 

Requirements: excellent writing and editing skills, good organizational skills and attention to detail, experienced in online research, and dedicated to SBI's mission. 

SEAL OF SUSTAINABILITY ASSISTANT 

- Support the Seal of Sustainability Coordinator
- Organize Seal of Sustainability meetings and attendees
- Assist in editing and distributing the Seal of Sustainability application and introduction package
- Assist in contacting current Seal applicants 

Requirements: Organized and a self-starter, strong communication skills (verbal & written), attention to detail, and dedicated to SBI's mission. 

WEBSITE ASSISTANT 

- Assist in development and organization of our new website (to be launched soon!)
- Future assistance in website management
- Organization of all website content
- Marketing team assistance in the web development process 

Requirements: 

Computer skills including MS Word, Outlook, and Excel, highly organized, website experience preferred, but not necessary. 

About the Sustainable Business Institute (SBI): 

SBI is a non-profit, non-partisan organization dedicated to bringing about increased understanding of, and commitment to, the concept of sustainability within business and communities worldwide. SBI was founded in 1994 by business leaders who recognize sustainability as one strategic driver for enhanced competitiveness and profitability. SBI continues to serve today's most influential decision-makers, corporate executives and future leaders with conferences, seminars, media and education initiatives and user group programs. 

SBI is currently seeking the support of volunteers and interns to work in maintaining and developing our current initiatives. Current volunteers include former and current business leaders, community participants, interested individuals, and university students. Volunteers will have the opportunity to participate in initiating, implementing and communicating equitable worldwide sustainability practices to global business leaders and their organizations. Our mission is to benefit the public through outreach initiatives that encourage business leaders to identify, create, implement and communicate economically viable sustainability practices. Our major activities include: 

* SBI Seal of Sustainability
* SBI CEO Forums on Sustainable Business (five previous conferences)
* Media Outreach through national network TV shows and documentaries on sustainable business. Cronkite Productions and Public Broadcasting System (PBS) have participated in the first of a series.
* Future Leaders projects with business executives
* Sustainable Business User Groups 

Hours:   

SBI is seeking volunteers who can work a minimum of 5-10 hours per week. Daily hours are flexible. 

Compensation: 

Positions are unpaid. However, if enrolled in a college or University, SBI can coordinate with your academic department to arrange for credit. Funding may also be available through campus work-study programs/employment grants; check with your school financial aid or career placement office.
