Description

The Earth Rangers Center is a LEED Gold certified building, we have many innovative technologies working together. The Facility Team is responsible for the daily operation and preventative maintenance of the Earth Rangers Center as well as future additions and plans. Our current technologies include: on-site waste water treatment plant, earth tubes, green roof, high efficiency boiler and chiller, radiant heated and cooled slabs. Future additions are planned to include a large solar photovoltaic array, ground coupled heat pumps, solar re-generated dehumification, an integrated building automation system, and drip irrigation for our landscaped gardens.  

Position Overview:

We need individuals to help us with gardening tasks such as preparations, planting, weeding, harvesting/dividing of our outdoor spaces at Earth Rangers. This includes native species gardens, green-roof and a butterfly garden. These gardens act as teaching tools for students, government and business visitors to illustrate which type of plants can be used in their school naturalization projects, green rooftop projects and butterfly gardens. We are looking for individuals who enjoy gardening and want to work outdoors. This position is seasonal and would be available from April to November.

Qualifications:

• Willing to be outside for an extended amount of time.
• An interest in organic gardening and native species perennials. 

What time commitment is required?

• This position is flexible and no long-term commitment is necessary. One day commitments are acceptable. (Monday-Friday between 8:30 am and 4:00 pm)
• Available from April to November.

Number of volunteers needed for this position: Up to 20 people. Individuals and groups are welcomed.
