Blue Sky Fund exists to get inner-city kids out into the great outdoors. Blue Sky Fund mentors and educates at-risk youth through after-school and weekend programs, as well as through "camperships", a type of scholarship fund that allows many of our youth to attend summer camp. 

The Blue Sky Fund is currently accepting applications for the position of Explorers Program Coordinator.

Responsibilities:

 1.  Direct the Explorers Program which includes:

  • Implement and enhance experiential curriculum
  • Recruit, Train, Manage, and Evaluate all educators
  • Coordinate program logistics (arrange sites, transport, food, water, etc.)
  • Enhance school relationships and site partnerships
  • Provide assistance in securing program funding

2.  To perform all duties assigned to him/her by supervisor?

3.  To administrate the registration of participants

4.  To record data to track children in programs and write reports on outcomes?

5.  To write program reports for newsletters and donor communications?

6.  To assist with volunteer recruitment?

7.  To assist with volunteer training, management, and appreciation?

8.  To research experiential education curriculum and best practices?

9.  To assist and/or lead other BSF programs as an expectation of all full time staff

10.  To represent Blue Sky Fund at partnership meetings when appropriate and to contribute to appropriate staff meetings and all staff expectations.

Qualifications:

Education: preference given to experience and/or graduate work in environmental studies, education, science, experiential education and outdoor recreation.  Bachelor's Degree required, Master's preferred. Teaching license preferred.

Experience: We are primarily looking for candidates with experience and/or training in hands on science education with management experience and/or ability.  Experience in youth programs, outdoor education, experiential education, working with at-risk youth, program evaluation and management will also be considered.

Personal Qualities: Self-initiated, passionate, analytical, organized, proficient in both written and oral communication, energetic, and kid friendly.  Ability to work in the small non-profit setting.

Compensation: Compensation to be determined by experience and competitive equivalents in non-profit program positions. Salary and benefits will be negotiated.

Full time Position (average of 40 hours per week), 10 month position with partial summers off

Job to begin immediately.  Applicants will be accepted until position is filled and interviews will be arranged upon invitation.

Expectations include, but are not limited to: weekly staff meetings, an average of 20 hours per week on site at programs and an average of 20 hours per week of administrative/planning/meeting time. Work expectations usually confined to weekday business hours with possible Saturday programs a few times per year.
