Position Overview:
The Executive Sales Officer (ESO) develops and directs sales within the region to attain specific sales and revenue. As part of the overall strategic sales and marketing plan of the company, the ESO designs and recommends long and short-term sales tactics specific to each market, communicates the success, possible changes to strategy and opportunities within the region. The ESO is responsible for budgeting for all products and profitability.
The position includes managing brokers, distributors/key retailers within the region and aligning all parties with the Company's strategic objectives and sales goals.
Responsibilities:
Brokers:
- Maintains contact by phone and in person to influence brokers to support sales objectives.
- Develops strategy in accordance with the company's objectives for optimizing placement, sales, and off-shelf programs.
- Monitors company broker programs.
- Analyzes the effectiveness of all programs and reports these results to the Executive team.
- Gathers information re: market conditions, distributor opportunities or problems, competition, etc.
- Hires, fires and trains brokers (with input from the Executive team)
- Distributors Maintains phone and in person contact to influence distributors to support company objectives.
- Develops market/chain-specific goals and evaluates progress.
- Develops and monitors the execution of distributor programs.
- Reviews distributor price and promotion catalogues for accuracy.
- Train and educate distributor sales reps
- Initiates presentations and meetings to obtain new accounts, placements and sales that support our objectives.
- Attends distributor tradeshows as necessary.
- Continually evaluates budgets to ensure that they are met.
Retail:
- Maintains contact by phone and personal visit.
- Maintains and improves placement and promotional opportunities.
- Optimizes off-shelf and display sales.
- Analyzes opportunity gaps and makes presentations to fill these gaps.
- Targets and budgets for new account placement and communicates to our broker and distributor partners to assure all objectives are aligned with the company's goals.
- Initiates presentations and meetings to gain new placements and sales.
- Analyzes effectiveness of market specific and chain specific programs, and evaluates and reports on progress to the executive team with specific recommendations for changes as necessary.
- Attends regional and national tradeshows as necessary.
Internal:
- Participates in the development and implementation of Sales and Marketing strategies.
- Participates in the budget development for each region, by product class and channel.
- Responsible for controlling regional sales expenses and balancing budgets
- Responsible for assisting Accounting with problem deductions, collections, MCB's/returns and maintaining coding of deductions on a monthly basis.
- Works with the Marketing Department to synchronize marketing plans with our retail and distributor sales partners within the region.
Qualifications:
Other Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- Proven track record of success securing, maintaining and steadily growing sales revenues.
- Excellent organization, presentation and communication skills.
- Ability to work well across all trade channels.
- PowerPoint and Excel skills, with the analytical ability to utilize syndicated data for fact-based sales presentations.
- Ability to work well and communicate with others.
- Ability to multi-task and work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to lead and direct the work of others
- Willingness to Travel up to a ratio of 50%, with overnight stays as necessary.
Education:
BS or equivalent; preferably in Marketing/Sales Experience: Minimum 7 years sales experience in Grocery and Natural Food channels.
