The Guadalupe Coyote Conservation District's (GCRCD) mission is to protect, improve and sustain the natural resources of the District. The organization has an evolving long-range plan that is focused on a diverse set of priority natural resource issues and organizational needs such as farmland protection and agricultural sustainability, soil erosion, air quality, energy efficiency and conservation, habitat protection and restoration, non-native invasive species management, education and outreach, and district operations.
Position Overview:
The GCRCD is seeking an energetic and creative individual to lead the district in implementing our mission in Santa Clara County. The Executive Director reports to the Board of Directors.
To lead the District forward, the GCRCD desires candidates with a strong combination of management, communication, and people skills, and knowledge of California natural resources, ranching, and agriculture. The position requires creativity and a team-oriented management style with an ability to work independently while reaching out to a variety of groups and agencies in representing the District's goals and objectives. This will require the ability to work flexibly within a set of wide-ranging and often challenging tasks.
Responsibilities:
- Conservation needs assessment & issue tracking
- Coordination with conservation partners
- District program and outreach oversight
- Grant-writing, management and oversight
- Financial management
- Personnel management
- Contract management
- Board reporting
Qualifications:
Bachelor Degree in public policy, natural resources, environmental law, or planning field; advanced degree preferred; successful management experience in business, non-profit, or small government; financial vision and grant acquisition ability. Funding Source: Local tax base, grants (federal, state, local), and fee-for-service work
Compensation: Competitive salary, dependent on experience. Benefits: Retirement contribution program; vacation and sick leave program and holidays.
