~ The Ozaukee Washington Land Trust's mission is to preserving the water resources, natural areas, and working lands of Ozaukee and Washington Counties. ~
Our efforts improve the water quality of our lakes, streams, rivers, and wetlands, protect and enhance wildlife habitat, and preserve the scenic and open spaces that define our rural landscape. By creating strong conservation relationships we promote public awareness of the benefits of land preservation, and provide opportunities for nature-based recreation, improving the quality of life in our communities.
Position Overview
The Executive Director is a full-time position reporting to
the Board of Directors. The Executive Director supervises staff and volunteers
and is responsible for the organization's consistent achievement of its mission
and financial objectives.
This postion is located in Ozaukee or Washington County; office located in West Bend, Wisconsin.
Responsibilities
The Executive Director of the Ozaukee Washington Land
Trust will:
- Raise funds, in cooperation with the Board of
Directors, from individuals, foundations and government agencies to support
programs. - Provide leadership in developing program,
organizational and financial management and planning with the Board of
Directors and staff. - Organize strategic planning update every three years,
in conjunction with the Board of Directors. - Focus operations on primary goals of accomplishing the
mission and long-term sustainability of the land trust. - Direct the financial operations of the organization
including preparing budgets and monitoring financial expenditures and financial
reporting to the Board of Directors. - Pro-actively seek and initiate collaborations and
partnerships that are innovative and that strategically advance the land
trust's mission and goals. - Maintain an organization culture which attracts,
keeps, and motivates a diverse staff of top quality people; encourage and
support staff professional development. - Serve as the primary public presence for the
organization and act as liaison with the media and other audiences. - Ensure compliance with federal, state and local
regulations, follow Board directed policies and maintain Land Trust
Accreditation by upholding nationally accepted Land Trust Standards and
Practices. - Provide leadership in the land trust community at the
local, state and regional and level, and maintain a working knowledge of
developments in the land trust and nonprofit field. - Perform all other duties typical of an executive
director of a non-profit organization not specifically mentioned above.
Qualifications
Required Experience & Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in an environmental or
management discipline. - Demonstrated successful executive level leadership of a
nonprofit or business. - Proven fundraising success with individuals, government
agencies, foundations and corporations. - Proficient in grant writing and reporting.
- Experience with financial management and budgeting.
- At least four years management experience and a proven
ability to inspire, motivate, and manage staff teams. - Success in building, managing and maintaining complex
projects and partnerships. - Experience interacting with a variety of constituencies:
Board, staff, members, donors, volunteers, landowners, municipal and state
officials, media, scientists, attorneys, real estate professionals and the
public. - Excellent writing, speaking and public relations skills.
- Demonstrated passion for the environment.
Compensation: Full time, with competitive salary and benefits based on
experience and qualifications.
