The future demands a new generation of innovators and entrepreneurs who will build a clean, green economy across every sector. 

Universities across the country have a key role to play as the launchpads for these new leaders.  CleanTech U works with universities to make it happen.

Position Overview:

The university programs director will primarily be responsible for interacting with and developing programs for universities. This will entail keeping in constant contact with leaders of university cleantech communities, managing mini-grants to support local programming, building university leadership and stakeholder support for cleantech entrepreneurship, interacting with corporate partners (e.g. Net Impact, Clean Economy Network, Cleanedge, NCIIA) and developing programs such as a mentoring platform, webinar content, and more.

Responsibilities:

More specific details include:

  • Project manage different university's specific plans for growing a cleantech presence on their campus - may be as many as 20 within a year.
  • Conduct needs analysis with students, faculty and staff and develop specific programs to meet those needs.
  • Communication and relationship building with audiences at a university - students, faculty, staff, and administrators.
  • Assist specific universities in achieving their aims, which might include launching business plan competitions, consulting programs, cleantech entrepreneurship curricula, or programs linking business students and engineers.
  • Identify commonalities across schools and begin to systematize and productive our service offerings.
  • Manage a team of volunteer associates who will create best practice guides, education resources and interactive learning (webinars, videos, etc.)
  • Help architect clusters of cleantech excellence in our focus metro areas by identifying local support structures, e.g. startup business, networks of cleantech practitioners, grant makers, non-profits, and local government.
