Description
Dream in Green seeks a highly motivated professional to lead this young, dynamic and rapidly growing 501(c)(3) non-profit. Founded in 2006, Dream in Green is a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing environmental and energy sustainability through training, education and public outreach. This position provides an excellent opportunity for an individual seeking to gain broad experience in the non-profit field.
The Executive Director will report directly to the Board of Directors.
Responsibilities:
- Working with Board of Directors in developing a strategic plan;
- Working with Board Chairman in developing board meeting agendas and organizing monthly meetings;
- Translating the strategic plan into an operational plan and budget;
- Managing annual budget, oversee bookkeeping and provide monthly financial statements to Board;
- Writing and submitting grant and corporate sponsor proposals;
- Managing grant and contract reporting;
- Supporting the Board of Directors with individual solicitations, event planning and coordination;
- Recruiting schools to participate in Green Schools Challenge;
- Organizing and facilitating teacher and school staff team workshops and meetings;
- Providing on-going technical and administrative support to each of the participating schools;
- Gathering and summarizing teacher reports and documentation of work, administering/analyzing surveys;
- Providing monthly updates and participating in bi-monthly meetings with MDCPS Science Curriculum Supervisors;
- Gathering monthly utility, recycling and tree planting data from schools and/or district;
- Overseeing the design and maintenance of a contact database;
- Providing informational updates to web-designer;
- Coordinating/writing a quarterly e-newsletter;
- Maintaining organizational files;
- Managing college intern(s), assistants and/or volunteers to assist with above duties; and
- Other duties as required by this small, rapidly growing organization.
Qualifications:
- At least 2 years experience in non-profit organizational management
- At least 3 years of fundraising experience
- At least 2 years of experience in organizational budget management
- Experience in grant writing
- Paid or volunteer experience that demonstrates a commitment to environmental sustainability and environmental education
- Exceptional interpersonal skills -- must be collaborative in nature
- Excellent presentation and coaching skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong project management, administrative and organizational skills
- Independence and efficient time management
- Expertise in Windows, MS Excel and Word. PowerPoint also a plus.
