The Legacy Institute for Nature & Culture (LINC) is a Florida-based non-profit conservation communications organization that seeks to connect society to natural environments and rural cultural legacies, so that this heritage continues for future generations. See www.LINC.us. LINC is poised to expand the reach of its fundraising, outreach, and programs under the management of an executive director.
Position Overview:
LINC seeks an Executive Director to manage the operations of the organization and to raise funds for and implement the Strategic Plan. The ideal candidate will have a conservation or communications background with demonstrated expertise in fundraising, exceptional leadership, and excellent communication skills. Proficiency in financial management, strategic planning and implementation, and collaboration with a non-profit board is essential. LINC works closely with photographers, non-profit organizations, private landowners, public agencies, and decision-makers, so the executive director must be able to interact successfully with a variety of partners. A working knowledge of conservation issues in Florida is beneficial.
Responsibilities:
- Raise funds for operations and for LINC programs;
- Non-profit administration, including oversight of outside accountant, donor tracking, preparation and management of budgets, annual reports, and IRS filings;
- Increase awareness of LINC and Florida conservation issues. Grow mailing list, oversee and contribute to newsletter, implement social media strategy;
- Grow LINC programs and increase their effectiveness, including oversight of annual calendar sponsorship, production, and sales; fiscal sponsorship of selected photographers; and implement new programs as directed by Board of Directors;
- Represent LINC in public forums, the Legislature, and in media as needed;
- Organize and direct an annual fundraising event (art exhibition and auction);
- Travel as needed to represent LINC. Travel will be mostly within Florida;
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Board or Board President.
Qualifications:
- 3 to 5 years experience with non-profit organizations in a relevant field.
- Fundraising experience with demonstrated results.
- Demonstrated experience in planning, developing and/or implementing programs.
- Superior written and oral communications.
- Interest in collaborative communications approaches to achieve conservation.
Compensation: Salary is commensurate with experience for full-time, or hourly pay commensurate with experience for part-time. Renewal of the position, pending board approval, is contingent upon successful fundraising for operations by the new Director.
