The Parks & Trails Council of Minnesota (PTCM) is a grassroots advocacy organization with a 55 year history of preserving our state's parks and trails. Our mission is to acquire, protect, and enhance critical lands for the public's use and benefit. We do this through land purchases and by being a powerful voice for parks and trails.
Contributions from individuals, foundations, corporations and with support from 3,000 members, have made PTCM instrumental in adding nearly 10,000 acres of land within the state's network. We envision an interconnected system of parks, trails, waterways, natural areas, and open spaces that provide all Minnesotans with outstanding outdoor opportunities. We promote sustainable, long-term statewide land stewardship and conservation, and outdoor recreation for its educational, personal health, and community benefits.
Position Overview:
The Parks and Trail Council of Minnesota (PTCM) is seeking an Executive Director with a passion for Minnesota's natural spaces who will be responsible for leadership, development, and management of all PTCM programs and activities. The ideal candidate will be a strong, capable service oriented manager with a proven track record in fundraising, board partnerships/relations, and advocacy.
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director is responsible for day to day leadership, management, and administration of PCTM programs and staff. He/She will work with the Board and the Board Committees to implement the organization's strategic plan, engage the broader community, fulfill policy and legislative agenda set by the Board of Directors, develop and achieve work plans, budgets, and fundraising strategies.
He/She will administer an annual operating budget of more than $600,000 and land acquisition funds in excess of $5,000,000. Core competencies include the ability to think strategically, initiative in developing action plans, problem solving skills, strong writing and speaking capabilities.
Qualifications:
Minimum of Bachelor Degree (BA/BS). 5 or more years proven experience in not for profit administrative or operational management, and/or related experience in law, business, government or land conservation or a combination of not for profit management and related experience. Candidates with advance degrees in related fields are strongly encouraged to apply. Demonstrated familiarity with policy, outreach, land acquisition, fundraising, and financial reporting. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to build collaborative relationships.
