The Canadian Solar Industries Association (CanSIA) is the voice of Canada's solar energy industry. CanSIA represents a broad array of manufacturers, distributors, dealers, consultants, and supporters in the passive solar, solar thermal, and solar electric industries. These industries are seeing a tremendous rise in public, government, and commercial awareness and are growing correspondingly, at roughly 25% per year.
Founded in 1978, CanSIA's mission is to develop a strong and professional Canadian solar industry able to: service an expanding domestic energy market, provide innovative solar solutions to world energy problems, and play a major role in promoting the transition to a solar energy future worldwide. It has about 200 members Canada-wide, 5 staff and/or contract positions at its base in Ottawa, and is growing. The solar industry in Canada is currently experiencing annual growth of roughly 25%.
At this time CanSIA is seeking a dynamic individual to fill the highly visible leadership role of Executive Director in our Ottawa head office.
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will have responsibility for implementing the strategic direction developed by the Board. Specific responsibilities will include operational management of the association, organizational growth, membership services, advocacy to governments and other stakeholders, and implementing programs and related activities that contribute to the association's goals.
The ideal candidate for this leadership role will possess a proven track record of growth-oriented management, sound knowledge of advocacy and public affairs, strong negotiation skills, innovative leadership abilities, and experience working with volunteer boards and a wide variety of stakeholders. Experience in association management would be an asset. S/he will be a seasoned communicator and have the ability to build strong relationships with diverse groups. A post-secondary degree or equivalent is required, fluency in both official languages an asset.
