The objective of the Mattole Restoration Council is to restore the natural systems of the Mattole River watershed in Petrolia, California. We're focused on projects aimed at healing the watershed for the benefit of salmon and humans which call it home.
Responsibilities include:
Organizational Management:
Develop staff organizational structure and retain staff as necessary. Create and shape programs and projects in accordance with Strategic Plan goals. Oversee key staff members. Participate in all Board of Directors' meetings. Convene and facilitate staff meetings. Maintain and implement MRC personnel, evaluation and safety policies. Create positive work environment. Arbitrate internal disputes via the Grievance Policy.
Fundraising/Organizational Development:
Maintain financial support for the Council through diverse funding sources, while ensuring that each program has adequate resources to complete its work. Maintain positive relations with government, foundation, and private funders. Oversee the Council's membership program. Work with Program Director and program staff to identify new project opportunities. Implement the MRC's Strategic Plan via project development, fundraising and landowner/agency involvement.
External Relations/Policy:
Implement public relations goals, act as the MRC's voice in media appearances. Ensure positive representation of Council activities, staff/Board/volunteers, and positions in the Mattole community, media and MRC publications. Assist program staff with regulatory and permitting needs. Maintain positive relations with Mattole landowners and residents. Ensure excellent "customer service" in all MRC fee-for-service programs. Participate in regional networks of restoration practitioners to understand and apply emerging concepts in watershed restoration. Provide effective representation of the Council's interests in local, state and federal policymaking arenas.
