Crowley Museum and Nature Center is a nature and pioneer history center located on 190 acres of native land adjacent to the Myakka River in Sarasota County. CMNC is seeking an Executive Director who is committed to the preservation of this natural site. The successful candidate must have a passion for and proven success in fundraising, marketing and creating partnerships by collaborating with other organizations. S/he will be creative, energetic, and poised to identify and execute strategies to raise awareness and improve operational efficiencies.
The Executive Director is the chief executive officer of Crowley Museum and Nature Center. The Executive Director reports to the board of directors, and accepts responsibility for the organization's consistent achievement of its mission and financial objectives.
Duties and Responsibilities:
In program development and administration, the Executive Director will assure that Crowley has a long-range strategy that achieves its mission, and toward which it makes consistent and timely progress. Provide leadership in developing program, organizational, and financial plans with the board of directors and staff, and carry out plans and policies authorized by the board.
In communications, the Executive Director will see that the board is kept fully informed on the condition of the organization and all important factors influencing it. S/he will also publicize the activities of the organization, its programs and its goals, establish sound working relationships and cooperative arrangements with community groups and organizations and represent the programs and point of view of the organization to government agencies, organizations and the general public.
In relations with staff, the Executive Director will be responsible for all aspects of staff and volunteers, develop job descriptions, encourage staff and volunteer development and education, and assist program staff in relating their specialized work to the total program of the organization and maintain a climate that attracts, keeps and motivates a diverse staff of top-quality people.
In budget and finance, the Executive Director will be responsible for developing and maintaining sound financial practices and work with the board to achieve its fundraising goals.
Job Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree
- A minimum of three years experience in administration - directing a business firm or non-profit agency and involving supervision of a diverse staff and management of significant funds.
- Experience working with volunteers and a commitment to volunteer leadership involvement.
- Demonstrated success in fundraising and public relations.
- Exceptional management ability and a sincere commitment to the goals and values of the organization.
