The Vermont Sustainable Jobs Fund is seeking an Executive Director to lead it through its next phase of growth as an integrated sustainable development organization.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Creates a sense of excitement about the organization and its mission; oversees organizational development, community relations, collaboration building, and strategic planning in conjunction with staff and Board
* Manages programs and other organizational activities consistent with VSJF mission and strategic plan; manages projects to be completed with high quality standards
* Serves as liaison between VSJF, state agencies, the legislature and Governor's office.
* Administers day-to-day operations of the organization, including cash flow management, staff hiring, supervision and annual employee evaluation
* Oversees monthly invoicing and grant documentation; approves timesheets and accounts payable and receivable requests
* Oversees personnel and programs to ensure compliance with legal, reporting and regulatory requirements, including the annual financial audit, ongoing audit compliance, and applicable tax and labor regulations
* Ensures organization's fiscal health through oversight of the organization's short and long term working capital and financial needs, and through annual budget and fundraising activities
* Oversees contract execution and administration for numerous funding sources and subcontractors; ensures deliverables, deadlines, and contractual obligations are met
* Facilitates the work of the Board of Directors and serves as President of the non-profit corporation; responsible for recommending program and operating policies to Board, proposing appropriate action when indicated
* Ensures maintenance of effective internal controls to protect organization assets
* Represents VSJF at meetings and conferences
QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES)
7-10 years related professional experience, with 3+ years in senior management; non-profit background and graduate degree preferred; understanding of the principles, key players and laws relating to sustainable development, and a demonstrated commitment to promoting the policies and practices of the "triple bottom line" - i.e. measuring business performance based on three criteria: profitability, social equity, and environmental health.
Successful track record managing budgets and cash flows; ability to motivate and supervise staff in a team atmosphere; familiarity with accounting and human resources practices; organizational leadership and fundraising skills; compelling writing and public speaking skills; collaborative leadership skills and large group facilitation; political leadership, inspiration and foresight; ability to negotiate and otherwise constructively engage with de facto and strategic partners.
