Description
The Indian Competence Centre of Organic Agriculture is being set-up by the Indian Organic Agriculture Movement, in collaboration with the reputed Research Institute of Organic Agriculture (FiBL), Switzerland.
The Centre will be the guiding force for the systematic development of organic agriculture. Planned for the Centre is a Core Team of Experts in key areas. Initially the Centre will be located at Bangalore.
The main tasks of the Centre are the following. Collecting, analysing, documenting and disseminating information and knowledge; Training and advising individuals and institutions; Advocating for and popularizing organic agriculture; Networking and mobilizing stakeholders on specific issues; and Providing consultancy services.
Duties:
Assignments: Chief Executive of the Competence Centre
- Building up the professional team, hiring of technical staff
- Procuring and implementing projects and assignments
- Public relations, networking with government organizations and private stakeholders
- Reporting to the Board of Directors
Qualifications:
The Competence Centre seeks for an Executive Director with the following profile:
- Educational background: Graduate in Agriculture or Science. Master/PhD desirable.
- Professional experience: In-depth knowledge on organic agriculture and familiarity with organic standards;
- At least two years professional experience in agriculture, research, extension or rural development;
- Minimum five years experience in institutional management / administration.
- Personal characteristics: Commitment to organic agriculture and to the farming community; ability to interact with all kinds of stakeholders (farmers, companies, scientists, government, consumers); innovativeness and creativity; reliability; flexibility; ability to lead a team; readiness to travel frequently.
- Languages: Fluency in English and Hindi.
- Working knowledge in any of the regional languages will be an added advantage.
- Other skills: Basic computer skills (MS Office)
