Description
The Gifford Pinchot Task Force seeks an energetic and motivated Executive Director to develop and lead forest conservation efforts in southwestern Washington. The Task Force is a successful and effective non-profit grassroots organization with over 3,000 members and is dedicated to protecting public forsts and communities through education, outreach, collaboration with rural communities, litigation and policy reform. The Executive Director will manage Task Force programs, campaigns and staff, solicit and maintain funding sources, and represent the Task Force membership in public forums.
Duties:
- Manage the Task Force's campaigns to preserve endangered species, old growth forests, roadless areas, and other conservation priorities
- Supervise employees, contractors, and other campaign principals
- Work closely with the GPTF Board to establish campaigns, programs, budget and organizational priorities
- Secure operational funds through grant writing, major donor and membership recruitment, special appeals, and fundraising events.
- Manage income and expenditure with financial database
- Facilitate membership involvement through annual events
- Act as the Task Force's key ambassador to policy makers, foundations, agency staff, the media, and other environmental and community groups
- Salary depends on experience and includes health and vacation benefits
Qualifications:
- A demonstrated commitment and passion for wildlife and land conservation issues and an interest in collaboration with diverse stakeholders
- Experience with campaign organizing, management, media, lobbying and fundraising
- Excellent writing, communication and interpersonal skills
- College degree
- Knowledge of Pacific Northwest forest ecology and National Forest policy
- Computer skills in Word, Excel, and Filemaker
