Description
Background:
Answering to the Board of Directors and working
collaboratively with a talented staff (currently 15), the Executive
Director will manage a budget of over $1 million per year and
provide vision and leadership to this highly successful
organization.
Duties:
- Empower staff and supervise programs in achieving
BESTs strategic goals - Develop BESTs positions on key public policy issues
- Play a key role in championing and developing new
sources of funding - Support and assist the Board in its organizational
governance - Create organizational budgets, manage resources,
and provide overall financial accountability - See and seize opportunities, innovate, and inspire
Qualifications:
- Graduate Degree or Postgraduate degree or equivalent life experience
- Effective leading teams, managing staff, and building
interpersonal relationships - Demonstrated success in fundraising, or exceptional
communicator with desire to fundraise - Financial acumen with proven ability to manage
substantial budgets - Strong organizational and project management skills
- Experience in developing public policy positions and
advocating interests effectively - Believer in, and user of, sustainable transportation
- Knowledge of environmental issues and the non-profit
sector highly desirable - Strategic, pragmatic and creative
