Position Overview
Abednego is seeking an Environmental Specialist to organize and coordinate environmental activities and programs. The Specialist will serve as support to the safety program, in order to provide a safe, clean, and healthy environment. The work requires a professional knowledge of environmental regulations, principles, and methods used to evaluate environmental conditions and ensure both environmental and safety compliance. Strong opportunities for advancement. Multi-site company, travel would be required.
Responsibilities
- Coordinates the environmental programs to ensure compliance with all environmental regulations.
- Assists in identification of all plant-level waste streams and proper management of each waste stream.
- Identifies and files all regulatory reports as necessary. Maintains all environmental files.
- Works with customers on sustainability and energy conservation programs.
- Interfaces with regulatory agencies and divisional personnel to direct environmental efforts within the plant. Conducts necessary training related to environmental and safety issues.
- Investigates, measures, and tracks all environmental performance and effectiveness of the environmental program. Conducts meetings/activities as necessary to communicate environmental and safety information to all members of the organization.
Qualifications
- Associate or Bachelor's degree in environmental field.
- 1+ years experience in environmental field preferred.
- Excellent written, oral and computer skills required.
- Excellent customer service and customer interface skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment across multi-site organization is required.
- Must have a valid drivers license and a driving record acceptable to our insurance carrier.
Work Environment
- In addition to an office environment, the Specialist will also travel to industrial work sites.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts.
- The employee is occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions (non-weather); work in high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Physical Demands
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, walk, stand; sit; use hands; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and taste or smell.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
