Environmental Specialist

Headquartered in Boonton, New Jersey and registered to the ISO14001 standard, First Environment is a strategic environmental consulting and engineering firm embracing sustainability with core practices and expertise in site investigation and remediation; transactional due diligence; environmental forensics and litigation support; management systems; and greenhouse gas verification and management.

Initial responsibilities:

• Conducting independent technical and historical research on a variety of environmental issues
• Collecting and analyzing quantitative information
• Generating environmental impact profiles for various industries/industrial processes
• Preparing deliverables and presenting findings to clients

Qualifications:

• Degree in Engineering, Math, Environmental Science/Policy or the Physical Sciences; advanced degree a plus
• A minimum of two-three years work experience
• Strong quantitative abilities
• Good organizational skills and attention to detail
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Team player with a high degree of self motivation

Preferences

• Knowledge of greenhouse gas (GHG) policy frameworks (UNFCCC, federal, state) and GHG accounting best practices
• Knowledge of sustainability issues
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Knowledge of auditing processes
• Understanding of energy and electricity generation and distribution concepts
• Experience and knowledge of industrial operations and processes

The position may be located in Washington, DC, Sacramento, CA, Chicago, IL, or Boonton, NJ.
