Description
Winslows mission is to conduct and support "environmentally effective investing." Based on the evidence that environmental responsibility enhances profitability, Winslow has been producing superior portfolio returns for individuals and institutions through a range of green-screened investment products since 1984.
Purpose:
The Summer 2003 Environmental Research Intern will assist in Winslows environmental evaluation and screening of companies in the portfolio. Many of the companies in Winslows portfolio need environmental review. Some have been evaluated in the past and require updated information; some are new to the portfolio and must be reviewed for the first time.
Goal:
To complete environmental audits of current holdings.
Qualifications:
- Current status as an undergraduate, or very recent graduate of a recognized college or university with a focus on environmental issues, science, and/or policy (no graduate students, please)
- Experience in and/or understanding of environmental issues, particularly those pertaining to business, energy efficiency, corporate responsibility, sustainability
- Excellent telephone, research, communication, and computer skills
- Ability to work independently on multiple research projects, but also a team player
- Recommended, but not necessary, understanding of business, finance, accounting, and/or corporate governance issues
Responibilities:
- Updating Winslows quarterly green screen of the S&P 500
- Using Winslows proprietary process, conduct environmental research and screening of portfolio companies, and apply Winslows environmental rating to each reviewed company. NOTE: Excellent phone manner required for interviews of senior company management.
- Preparing and completing company-specific questionnaires and audit forms for each company and maintaining a database.
- Creating a spreadsheet of all Winslows rated companies for reference.
- Assisting with other environmental research related to companies, industries, and issues.
- Administrative work for environmental research as needed.
