First Environment, Inc., a nationally recognized environmental management and consulting firm recognized for our commitment to leadership in the environmental field is looking for an experienced Environmental Project Manager to join our staff in Chicago. 

First Environment is a member of the Business Council for Sustainable Energy, where the president of our firm serves as chairman of its board. Our company was a charter partner of the U.S. EPA's Climate Leaders program and has achieved its goal to become carbon neutral.   In addition to these associations, First Environment became the first US environmental engineering and consulting firm registered to the ISO 14001 Standard in 1997.  We are accredited as a Validation and/or Verification Body (VVB) under the American National Standards Institute's (ANSI) pilot program for ISO 14065.

Responsibilities:

Promotion of First Environment's local greenhouse gas management practice

  • Proposal management
  • Project management          
  • Business development and client relations

Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in Engineering, Math, Environmental Science, Policy, Law, Business or the Physical Sciences
  • 8+ years' experience and expertise in any of the following areas:
  • Greenhouse gas inventory protocols;
  • Corporate greenhouse gas reduction strategies;
  • Domestic and international carbon markets;
  • Regional, state, federal greenhouse gas reduction initiatives;
  • Electricity markets;
  • State/local clean energy policy initiatives;
  • Emerging National legislation;
  • Ability to communicate technical information effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated marketing capabilities
  • Strong leadership skills, outgoing nature, and ability to connect within a large network preferred
  • Government experience a major plus
  • Team player with a high degree of self motivation

This position requires proven management capabilities, business development experience, and strong technical aptitude.  A major focus of the Chicago office practice is climate change and energy services business.  In addition the position will require the development of the firm's service areas with areas including forensic environmental investigation and litigation support, due diligence, management systems, and sustainability.
