Position Overview
Soltesz is currently accepting resumes for the position of Environmental Planning Specialist located in our Rockville, MD office.
Responsibilities
The Environmental Planning Specialist is responsible for performing professional and technical environmental work relating to natural resource enhancement and improvement projects throughout the area, using his/her knowledge to protect the environment, as well as offering advice on construction and land-use projects. The Environmental Planning Specialist will divide his/her work time between field work and office work.
Additional essential job functions include:
- Preparation of Natural Resource Inventory/Forest Stand Delineation (NRI/FSD)
- General site investigation
- Tree evaluation and forest conservation plans
- Plant identification, including Native plants, non-native plants and ornamental plants
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in Landscape Architecture, Environmental Science, Engineering or other related field
- ISA Arborist Certification
- Minimum 2-4 years' experience in Montgomery, Frederick and/or Prince George's county preparing environmental plans and permits
- Experience in plan preparation, environmental permitting, NRI/FSD; tree/forest conservation plans; knowledge of environmental regulatory processes with Montgomery, Prince George's and Frederick counties, City of Rockville and City of Gaithersburg, as well as the state of Maryland
- Wetland Delineation and permitting experience
- Proficient with Microstation/AutoCAD
Preferred Qualifications:
- PWS or WIT certification
- Maryland licensed tree expert
- MD Landscape Architecture Registration or MD DNR Forestry Qualified Professional Status
