Responsibilities
The Baltimore Metropolitan Council, the regional planning organization for the Baltimore metropolitan area, is accepting applications for the position of Environmental Planner. Staff in this position will work on environmental issues associated with transportation planning, with a strong focus on air quality. Primary interest areas of candidates should include environmental or public policy, such as regulatory and legislative actions. Environmental outreach is also incorporated, such as encouraging use of clean technologies and beneficial travel behaviors. Responsibilities include tracking and reporting on relevant federal and state policies, coordinating air quality and transportation planning activities, supporting interagency groups and assisting in regional outreach efforts.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in environmental policy with experience in environmental policy and/or science. At a minimum, a Bachelor's Degree is required in Planning, Environmental Science/Engineering, Public Policy or a related field, plus three years of relevant experience. A Master's Degree may be substituted for one year of experience. Strong oral and public presentation skills are essential, as is strong analytical-reading skills and excellent writing skills.
Compensation
Salary is commensurate with the position level assigned to the candidate.
