Description
Business for Social Responsibility (BSR), a non-profit business association that seeks to create a more just and sustainable global economy by working with its member companies, other enterprises and leading stakeholders to promote more responsible business practices, is seeking a Part-Time Environmental Grant Writer.
BSR's staff of 60 at its headquarters in San Francisco and offices in Paris, Hong Kong and Guangzhou, China, works to realize its vision by providing information and services to its 250 member companies; providing world-class consulting and advisory services; conducting practical, forward-looking research, and collaborating with the public sector and civil society.
Position Overview
This contract will involve environmental funder outreach, writing and support for the Environmental Strategy team of BSR's R&D department. The job will entail scoping of potential private foundation, corporate foundation and multi-lateral funders, initial outreach to funders to gauge interest, setting up of funder meetings, drafting and submission of grant proposals, and high-level tracking of grant funds together with BSR's Finance department.
Qualifications
- Experience with environmental grant writing and budget design;
- Pre-existing network of environmental funders and a demonstrated track record on securing grant funding for environmental project work;
- Exceptional writing and editing skills;
- Excellent communication skills for funder outreach;
- Capacity for critical and creative thinking;
- Initiative and ability to plan and deliver project work without close oversight.
Contract Terms
The contract will begin as soon as possible and involve a part-time contract of 6-7 hours per week through March 2008 at a fixed fee of $15,000. At that point, both parties will agree to discuss the progress of the relationship.
While proximity to our San Francisco headquarters is a plus, we are open to applicants from other locations.
