Tin Mountain Conservation Center (TMCC) in Albany, NH is seeking Interns for Fall 2008. Start date is at the candidate's earliest convenience.
TMCC is an Environmental Education non-profit serving the Mount Washington Valley through school programs, summer camps, and community nature programs.
Position Overview:
Interns will join our small staff in all aspects of the organization. Interns will have an opportunity to work with all ages, and with a variety of groups, including schools and the general public. Interns will assist Teacher/Naturalists in school and after-school programs for grades K to 8, as well as assist or lead various day, evening, and weekend programs at the TMCC Nature Learning Center.
Interns will be involved in general Nature Center operations including some live animal care, volunteer training and supervision, weekend programs and events, curriculum and program development, and writing articles for the newsletter.
Qualifications:
Successful candidates have a strong desire to teach and share their knowledge and enthusiasm for the natural world. A background in education or the natural sciences is helpful but not necessary.
Compensation: TMCC is currently unable to offer a stipend or living accommodations for Interns, but Interns will have opportunities to participate in professional development workshops and regional conferences, and have use of a work space with a computer and internet access.
