Position Overview
URS is a leading national engineering consulting firm with a major regional office in Morrisville (Raleigh), NC. We are currently seeking a Chemist to assist with commercial and federal projects involving site investigation and remediation of soils and groundwater.
The successful candidate will be involved in the day-to-day issues concerning coordination of analytical work, data review/validation, and problem resolution. This position does not involve laboratory work, but may involve some field work.
Responsibilities
- Determine appropriate analytical methods as part of the project planning process
- Coordinate and track analytical work with commercial laboratories
- Review laboratory data packages for completeness,
- Conduct data validation
- Resolve analytical issues
- Assist in the development of project Work Plans and Quality Assurance Project Plans
- Interact with project managers, field staff, and laboratory personnel when coordinating analytical work for a given sampling event

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or other related discipline
- Possess good communication and writing skills, and a desire to contribute to a dynamic team
- Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office (including Word and Excel)
- Ability to write and convey thoughts, and organize data in an efficient and clear manner
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to effectively multi-task
- Collaborates well in a team environment
- Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test
