Environmental Analyst Description: The Environmental Analyst will be primarily responsible for working with portfolio managers to oversee and conduct environmental and financial research on companies in Winslows portfolio, and the quarterly publication of Winslow Environmental News. The Environmental Analyst should have a strong understanding of environmental issues, particularly those related to business and human impacts on the natural environment. Other responsibilities include executing proxy votes for the portfolio, and conducting fundamental research of companies in Winslows portfolio. Knowledge of finance, accounting, business, and related databases such as Bloomberg and FactSet a plus.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Environmental-related field, and 2-4 years work experience (MBA may be substituted for work experience provided that prior environmental background is strong).
  • Solid experience in and understanding of environmental issues, particularly those pertaining to business, energy efficiency, corporate responsibility, sustainability, biology, technology.
  • Excellent research, writing, communication, interpersonal, telephone, and computer skills - Ability to work independently on multiple projects, but also a team player.
  • Recommended: understanding of business, finance, and accounting.
  • Ability to manage constant workflow of diverse projects and cross-train with others in small-office environment.

Responsibilites:

  • Using Winslows proprietary process, conduct environmental research and screening of portfolio companies, and apply Winslows environmental rating to each reviewed company.
  • NOTE:Excellent phone manner required for interviews of senior company management.
  • Coordinating environmental research with investment trends.
  • Managing Editor of Winslow Environmental News: hosting meetings, determining content, setting/managing deadlines, writing articles, overseeing design, publication, and distribution NOTE:Excellent writing, proofreading, and editing skills required.
  • Managing part-time environmental research intern - Working with third party vendor to execute proxy votes.
  • Keeping Winslow team abreast of current environmental news and issues.
  • Regularly meeting with senior executives at portfolio companies to conduct research.
  • Assisting with financial and technical research on portfolio companies.
  • Representing Winslow at socially responsible investing and financial industry conferences.
  • Other environmental research related to companies, industries, and issues.
