Geosyntec is a specialized consulting and engineering firm that works with private and public sector clients to address new ventures and complex problems involving our environment, natural resources, and civil infrastructure.

Position Overview:

Our Boston-area remediation practice is growing and we are looking for exceptional candidates to grow with us in our Acton, Massachusetts office.  With a diverse private and public sector client base, we are seeking a junior-level hydrogeologist. 

Candidate must have outstanding technical capabilities and up to 6 years of experience.  An advanced degree in geology or hydrogeology is preferred.  Our project base includes complex site investigations, often coupled with numerical modeling, the application of innovative site remediation technologies, and human health and ecological risk assessment.

Responsibilities: 

Job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Designing, planning, organizing executing and overseeing site investigation, contamination assessment, monitoring, and remediation programs;
  • Chemical, geological and hydraulic data analysis, mapping, and reporting;
  • Remedy evaluation, cost estimating, design, and implementation; and
  • Preparation of technical reports and proposals.

The selected candidate will perform assignments under the supervision of senior scientists/engineers and project managers.  The individual will also be required to perform tasks in other company practice areas as needed.  Tasks will be designed to develop knowledge, skills and abilities in these technical disciplines and the business of professional consulting services.

Qualifications:

The minimum qualifications for this position are a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in geology, hydrogeology, or a related discipline.  A Masters or Ph.D. degree in geology with an emphasis in hydrogeology is strongly preferred, as is the ability to become professionally licensed.  

This position requires successful completion of  40 hours of OSHA health and safety training for working with potentially contaminated materials (provided, as needed), annual 8-hour refresher courses, first aid training (every 3 years), CPR training (every year), and annual medical monitoring. 

The ability and willingness to perform fieldwork and travel are also required.  Project-specific qualification (e.g., drug testing and review of driving record) may be required.
