Engineering Support and Development Associate

We are an increasingly important player in green building and sustainable development for which water quality assurance, conservation and management are indispensable components. 

Our company goals are to (1) improve potable water while significantly reducing plastic waste and carbon footprint; and (2) manage rainwater retention and reuse technologies.  Wastewater treatment is not our focus. 

Position Overview

The company is expanding and is hiring an Engineering Support and Development Associate
who will gradually assume many of the company President's current day-to-day
tasks and responsibilities as outlined below. Positions are New York City-based. 

Responsibilities  

• Managing communications, operations and
  transactions that typically involve multiple parties, e.g., supplier, customer,
  engineer. This requires detailed knowledge of numerous aspects of
  the technologies in question, how our business is conducted, and players
  involved. 
• Preparing detailed specification files and
  quotations responsive to inquiries from mechanical engineers who specify our
  equipment on new projects, and subsequent bidders (plumbing contractors)
  on these projects. Over time, the ability to discuss and inform about our
  technologies and answer detailed operational questions will be expected.
• Pursuing new business, by responding to
  inquiries presented and by researching various information databases that
  signal a new opportunity. Imagination and contacts in relevant
  industries are assets. 

Qualifications 

Candidates for this position will have entrepreneurial
ambition with experience in water technologies, its peripherals (e.g. electrical control panels or pumps),
or mechanical engineering; however, exceptionally enthusiastic, motivated and
educable candidates will be considered.   

Candidates are also expected to have:  

• Excellent communication skills. The ability to communicate in clear,
  error-free English (both spoken and written) is essential and non-negotiable. What
  is written is often binding, legally and ethically. 
• Professional communication is imperative
  to our market position.
• Tech-savviness. Experience with business
  management software is a plus but candidates who are able to get up to speed
  quickly will be considered.
• It is not expected that the new hire will be able to hit the
  ground running. An extensive
  training period is anticipated and will be provided.

We hold exclusive distribution agreements and relationships with top manufacturers, with the goal of dominating and retaining those markets on which we focus. 

Our principal markets are urban applications for: 

• Whole building filtration systems and storm water reuse systems, typically specified by mechanical engineers for inclusion on new high-rise projects;
• Kitchen-installed "point-of-use" filters to eliminate the need for bottled water (aligned with green building and principles of sustainability); and
• Sequences of technologies to achieve precise performance goals in a variety of applications, both high and low volume.
