The Energy Smart program helps Minnesota businesses achieve cost savings through energy efficiency. Through direct, personalized assistance, Energy Smart helps businesses take full advantage of utility Conservation Improvement Programs (CIP) and other products and services that achieve energy efficiency. Energy Smart is a program of Minnesota Waste Wise, a non-profit affiliate of the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce.
Position Overview:
The Energy Smart Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and conducting new business outreach and research, conducting on-site energy consultations, maintaining program database, providing Energy Star building benchmarking services and assisting other program staff as needed. Travel within Minnesota is part of this job.
Responsibilities:
- Engage the Minnesota business community through in person and other direct contact networking.
- In conjunction with the Energy Smart Program Manager, research and identify outreach targets.
- Coordinate outreach communication with business groups and associations.
- Conduct outreach activities such as list creation, direct mailings, and business door knocking to ensure that outreach and other service goals are met.
- Conduct on-site energy consultations to identify and encourage implementation of energy efficiency and conservation opportunities.
- Know and effectively communicate the details of commercial electric and natural gas utility programs.
- Maintain accurate records of business participation and update database with program results.
- Carry out other tasks as assigned by the Program Manager or Executive Director.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years experience in business development and outreach, commercial energy consulting, data management, and research.
- Associate's degree in energy technology in lieu of bachelor's degree.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Communications, Marketing, Engineering or related field preferred.
- Previous experience in the energy field with knowledge of HVAC systems, controls and/or compressed air is a plus.
- Highly proficient in using data management tools including Salesforce and Microsoft Office.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Strong inter-personal skills and the ability to create and maintain positive working relationships with a diverse group of stake holders in the business community.
- Solid knowledge of Minnesota's Conservation Improvement Programs (CIP's), including commercial electric and gas utility programs is preferred.
- Able to multi-task and manage several projects simultaneously.
- Vehicle required for travel, will be reimbursed for mileage.
- Must pass motor vehicle records check.
